Lighter paint colors are always stylish, but lately I’ve seen a real trend towards using even more light colors in building new custom homes. As a luxury custom home builder, I like the way light colors brighten a room, making it look larger, airier, and clean. The light-colored neutrals are also great as a canvas to highlight furniture and art.
The kitchen is one of the most popular rooms that you now see utilizing the light and bright colors. I’m seeing a small shift away from stainless steel appliances in the kitchen to white appliances (although stainless steel is still popular), as well as white cabinets, and counter tops – especially white marble and white Carrera counter tops. A light and bright kitchen can provide elegance and sereneness in a way that dark colored cabinets and counter tops just can’t duplicate.
White kitchens work well in all types of homes – not just traditional. For a more modern look, high-gloss white finishes on cabinets with glass and metal accents play up the contemporary look. White French country kitchens look lovely with wood accents, perhaps a wood ceiling or wood beamed ceiling and open dish racks. Add a Mediterranean feel to a white kitchen with cool blue floor tiles or back splash tiles. A back splash is one way to incorporate a pop of color in the white kitchen. If your tastes change, the tiles are easily changeable!
