Economy, Parks and Recreation

Preston Center is a commercial area that’s located in close proximity to Old Preston Hollow. Also, the Dallas Galleria (shopping mall) and the NorthPark Center (shopping mall) are both located near the old Preston Hollow neighborhood in Dallas. The City of Dallas operates two neighborhood parks within Preston Hollow, Netherland Park and Preston Hollow Park. The Preston Hollow Park includes two baseball/softball fields, one soccer (football) field, two tennis courts, one basketball court, one playground, seven picnic tables, and trails. The Netherland Park includes two tennis courts and trails.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Dallas operates area Catholic Private Schools. Ursuline Academy of Dallas, a Catholic girls' high school, which is in the Estate area which is called Old Preston Hollow. Non-Catholic private schools within Preston Hollow North neighborhoods include St. Mark's School of Texas and Preston Hollow Presbyterian School. Private Catholic Schools in the surrounding area include, Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, Christ the King Catholic School,, St. Rita Catholic School, and St. Monica Catholic School. Other private schools in the surrounding area include Episcopal School of Dallas, Hockaday School, Parish Episcopal School and Good Shepherd Episcopal School. Three co-ed, private schools exist in Dallas, the Greenhill School and Alcuin School all of which serve as an option for private schools for residents children in Old Preston Hollow.


The Dallas Independent School System (DISD) operates local public schools that serve the Old Preston Hollow neighborhood in Dallas, Texas. It’s the 2nd-largest school district in Texas. Elementary Schools serving areas in Preston Hollow include John J. Pershing (in Preston Hollow), Harry C. Withers. The Middle Schools and High Schools include - Benjamin Franklin Middle School, Cary Middle School, Hillcrest High School, Thomas Jefferson High School, E.D. Walker Middle School and W.T. White High School.


Higher Education - Old Preston Hollow is within the Dallas County Community College District and Southern Methodist University is in close proximity.
